2027 exam windows and deadlines

CFA Institute publishes exact dates in an interactive tool on its site. The dates above are as published by two independent CFA prep providers whose schedules agree; November 2027 is not yet announced. Deadlines end at 11:59 pm Eastern Time. Confirm your own dates at cfainstitute.org before you book.

Which levels run when

• Level I runs in all four windows: February, May, August and November.
• Level II runs in May, August and November.
• Level III runs in February and August only.

Rules worth knowing before you register

• At most two sittings a year. CFA Institute allows a maximum of two exam sittings per calendar year, not in consecutive windows or windows six months or less apart, and six attempts per level. Check the Exam Eligibility Policy if you plan two sittings exactly six months apart.
• No paid deferrals for 2027 exams. CFA Institute stopped offering paid deferrals from the opening of 2027 exam registration. Emergency deferrals remain for specific circumstances.
• Rescheduling within a window costs USD 250 and cannot move you to a different window.
• Fees start from USD 1,140 for early registration.
• Results arrive within 5–7 weeks for Levels I and II, and 6–8 weeks for Level III.

What each level looks like

• CFA Level I topic weights for 2027Multiple-choice questions over 4.5 hours, in two sessions of 135 minutes. Offered in February, May, August and November.
• CFA Level II topic weights for 2027Vignette-based (item set) multiple-choice questions over 4.5 hours, in two sessions of 132 minutes. Offered in May, August and November.
• CFA Level III topic weights for 2027Vignette-based essay and multiple-choice questions over 4.5 hours, in two sessions of 132 minutes, with one of three specialised pathways. Offered in February and August.
