How to set up the BA II Plus for the CFA and FRM exams

Once, before you start practising — and again if the calculator is reset.

The keys

2NDRESETENTERRestores the factory settings. RST 0.00 confirms.
2NDFORMAT9ENTERShows as many decimal places as the display allows, so rounding never hides an answer.
2NDP/Y1ENTEROne payment per year. C/Y follows automatically. Most exam questions assume this.
2NDQUITBack to the standard display.

Worked example

Check that payments per year is set to 1.

2NDP/YDisplay reads P/Y = 1.
P/Y = 1 and C/Y = 1

The trap

The factory setting is P/Y = 12. Left there, every annual TVM answer is wrong, because I/Y is divided by twelve behind your back.
